Algonkin Fly Fishers - An Ottawa Valley Fly Fishing Club

The Algonkin Fly Fishers club promotes fly fishing and fly tying in the Ottawa Valley. We are located in Eganville, Ontario, Canada. The club caters to both new and experienced fly fishers. We invite you to join us at a meeting or a fly fishing outing to experience what our club has to offer. We currently have members from the Ottawa Valley communities of Eganville, Renfrew, Arnprior, Deep River, Pembroke, Petawawa, Cobden, Golden Lake, Lake Dore, Carp, and Carleton Place.

July 27, 2008:
The Big Bass tournament was another great success with a total of 15 participants. The weather unpredictable and the water clarity was questionable but fun was had by all anyways. The tournament winner was Paul Ricker with a 15" smallmouth bass. Congratulations to Meghan Halkett on winning the Rio Fly Fishing Shirt donated by Mike Fuller of "Mike's Fly Shop". Thank you Mike for the donation.

July 5, 2008:
The Algonkin Fly Fishers Big Bass Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 27th on Muskrat Lake. Details are on the Calendar page.

April 18, 2008:
The calendar has been updated with details of our upcoming outings. The first outing is the Casting Clinic & BBQ at Tooey Lake on May 25th. For more informal outings make sure to check out the fishing trips section of the Forum.

April 17, 2008:
The draw was held for the fly fishing rod and book at the meeting tonight. The winning numbers were 0596729 for the rod and 0596749 for the book. Please contact Lew Ricker at president@algonkinflyfishers.com to claim your prize.

April 4, 2008:
To help promote the club and encourage new membership our club will have a booth at the Valley Fishing and Outdoor Show in Carp on April 11-13, 2008. Please drop in for a chat and see our displays. We will also have vises set up for fly tying. For those interested in volunteering to help out at the booth please contact Lew Ricker at president@algonkinflyfishers.com.

The equipment swap has been postponed till the next meeting on April 17th.

April 1, 2008:
At our next meeting (April 3rd) we will be having an equipment swap. This will be an opportunity for members to swap, trade, or sell extra equipment they may have laying around. Please also bring your fly tying equipment as we'll be tying a fly.
